Itinerary
The adventure begins early in the morning from our agency in Pucón. We travel along the international route towards Palguín Alto, a journey that takes approximately one hour. Upon reaching the trailhead, we start the hike on a well-marked path that winds through a forest of coihue and lenga trees. In this stretch, it is possible to spot woodpeckers, foxes, and other endemic flora and fauna.
At an altitude of 1,500 meters, the landscape changes dramatically as we exit the forest, revealing spectacular views of Volcán Quetrupillán. From this point, the ascent to the summit can take between 2 to 3 hours, depending on the group's pace. We traverse poorly marked trails and various slopes, including inclines greater than 30 degrees.
Upon reaching the summit, the reward is breathtaking: panoramic views of more than seven volcanoes, the glacier inside the crater, and the valleys stretching in all directions from this mystical mountain. The descent follows the same route as the ascent and takes between 3 to 4 hours. This ascent is possible year-round, but if you choose to do it in winter, it is essential to be prepared to walk on snow and ice.
Enjoy the ascent to Volcán Quetrupillán and experience a unique adventure in Araucanía, surrounded by spectacular landscapes and the tranquility of nature.
