Itinerary
Distance: 18 km / Time: 5 hours / Difficulty: Moderate / Accommodation: Paine Grande / Meals: Dinner.
Our adventure begins at 7:00 a.m. at the Puerto Natales Bus Terminal. From there, we head north towards Torres del Paine National Park. Around 9:00 a.m., we arrive at the entrance of Laguna Amarga, the main gate of the national park. After completing the entry process with CONAF (park rangers), we continue to the Pudeto sector, where we board a boat to cross Lake Pehoé, arriving at Camping Paine Grande around 11:00 a.m. Once we check in at the reception, we prepare to start our hike to the French Valley, the central section of the "W" Circuit. This valley offers three levels of hiking: the most basic option goes to the Italian Camp, the moderate one reaches the French Viewpoint, and the most challenging leads to the British Viewpoint. Regardless of the option you choose, remember to calculate and measure the distances according to your abilities. We will return to the Paine Grande Refuge around 7:00 p.m. to enjoy a restorative dinner. We will rest and share the experiences of this beautiful day in Patagonia.
Distance: 12 km / Time: 3-4 hours / Difficulty: Moderate / Accommodation: Grey / Meals: Breakfast, lunch (box lunch), and dinner.
After breakfast, we start our hike towards the Grey Refuge (approximately 12 km). After about 2 hours of hiking, we reach the spectacular viewpoint of the Grey Glacier, where we enjoy one of the most impressive views of Patagonia. Here, we stop to recharge, enjoy a tasty snack, and take some amazing photos. Then, we descend for another 2 hours until we reach the Grey Refuge. Once there, we check in at the reception and prepare to rest before the adventures to come. Around 4:00 PM, we begin our visit to the famous Hanging Bridges and the Pasos Viewpoint, about 5 kilometers round trip from the Grey Refuge. We then return to rest and enjoy a comforting dinner at the Grey Refuge.
Distance: 12 km / Time: 3-4 hours / Difficulty: Demanding / Meals: Breakfast, lunch (box lunch).
We start the day early with breakfast and prepare for the exciting journey ahead. At 8:00 a.m., we walk from the Grey Refuge to the meeting point, where we begin our excursion to the glacier. Whether you chose the Ice Hike or the Grey Kayak:
Ice Hike (Starts at 8:00 a.m.)
We receive a brief instruction on how to use the necessary equipment and then set off in our zodiac boat towards the access point to the glacier. For approximately 6 km, we walk on the glacier, exploring crevasses and caves, searching for the most spectacular spots to experience this thrilling adventure. We return to our base around 2:00 p.m., where we conclude the excursion.
Grey Kayak (Starts at 9:00 a.m.)
We take 30 minutes to put on all the necessary gear and receive a brief instruction on its proper use. We will paddle from our base towards the first wall of the Grey Glacier. Along the way, we will encounter large icebergs. We will navigate between them, take photos, and our guide will tell us about the formation of these great colossi that break off from the glacier and gradually melt in the icy waters of Lake Grey. We return to our base around 11:30 a.m., where we conclude the excursion.
Once the experience is finished, we begin our return to Camping Paine Grande (approximately 12 km). Remember to carefully calculate and manage the return hiking times to avoid issues with the boat that will pick us up at Camping Paine Grande at 6:30 p.m. After crossing Lake Pehoé, we take the regular bus from the Pudeto Sector that will take us back to Puerto Natales, where we will arrive around 9:00 p.m.
