Overview

Adventure in La Barrosa is an experience designed for those who seek to explore one of the most pristine and authentic places in Chilean Patagonia. This program focuses on offering an experience adaptable to the interests of each guest, allowing them to get to know the ranch, its natural surroundings, and the way of life of those who inhabit this remote territory.

The experience takes place on an extensive property of about 18,700 hectares, where less than 25% of the land is used for livestock farming, which gives rise to an extraordinary diversity of ecosystems. The fjord coast, the mountains, the peat bogs, and the Nothofagus forests make up a unique landscape, home to a wide variety of fauna and flora that you can discover during your stay.

This program is highly flexible and can be done in different ways, allowing you to choose a main activity or combine several experiences over two days. Additionally, there is the possibility of extending the stay to design a special program. At the ranch, activities such as horseback riding, trekking, and 4x4 vehicle rides can be done, as well as coordinating mountain bike and kayak outings.

Book your Adventure in La Barrosa and live a tailor-made experience in one of the wildest and most diverse corners of Chilean Patagonia.

Itinerary

We start this day sailing from Puerto Natales to the ranch where we will be welcomed and helped to prepare our equipment to head towards Cerro Ballena. Then, we will look for a place to have lunch, and thus explore the La Veranada valley during the afternoon. Our accommodation will be at the "La Barrosa" lodge, located on the shores of the Última Esperanza fjord, with a view of the mountains, and next to a wood stove we will find ourselves in the life of the pioneers. After settling in, we have some leisure time, whether to explore Miseria bay, fish in the fjord, or just enjoy the surroundings; the idea is to immerse ourselves in Patagonia and what it has to offer us.

We started with a breakfast at the stand and continued with our adventure. We delved into the life of the Kawesqar, a nomadic canoeing people who inhabited the southern channels, visiting important archaeological sites such as the Cave of the Children, the Lithic Workshop, and a "conchal," and among them, we will learn about the life of this ancestral culture.

Finally, we arrived at the ranch for a delicious barbecue, a demonstration of shearing, and the work of our sheepdogs, before sailing back to Puerto Natales.
