Then, head straight to the Serrano Entrance at the west end of Torres del Paine National Park. Get your camera ready for a day of turquoise-green lakes, deep blue icebergs, jagged mountain peaks, and diverse wildlife. Walk along the sometimes very windy Grey Beach, feel the mist spraying from the tremendous “Salto Grande” waterfall, and marvel at the majestic Paine Massif and “Cuernos del Paine”. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at Hostel Amerindia before departing for a 7:00 AM transfer straight to Torres del Paine National Park. Journey amongst the vast Patagonian plains before arriving at the entrance at Laguna Amarga, where it is required to register with CONAF (park rangers). From here, continue until you reach the Visitor Center, the starting point of the trek. Today’s trek follows the Ascensio Valley as it snakes through windswept hills and gigantic beech forests. During the last ascent, traverse through an immense boulder field until reaching one of the most iconic mountain viewpoints in the world, the Base of The Towers. At a height of 900 meters above sea level, marvel at the sheer granite walls of the north, south, and central towers and the brilliantly turquoise glacial lake below. Take some photographs and have your packed lunch before following the same trail downwards to Refugio Torre Central and the Visitor’s Center.
Distance: 5km | Duration: 4 hours | Difficulty: Low | Accommodation: Hostel Amerindia (Extra).
Embark on a 3-hour navigation tour of Grey Glacier, sailing from the Grey Lake beach towards the majestic Glacier. Sail along the imposing Paine Massif for 45 minutes, and arrive at Refugio Grey, where we will make a 15-minute stop to exchange passengers that make the W circuit on the internal trails of the Torres del Paine National Park. Then, continue your tour to visit the faces of the Glacier in approximately 1 hour of navigation. Admire the Glacier's extensions and observe part of the Southern Ice Field. Return to the starting point, crossing the lake between floating icebergs that accompany you during a great part of the journey.
