Overview
Once you have finished your visit to Torres del Paine National Park, your return to Puerto Natales doesn’t need to be the common one. We invite you to choose the best alternative, to come back to the city, a much more fun and exciting way. How about a paddle down the Serrano River in a Sea kayak? This river joins two national parks and is the maritime connection between Puerto Natales and Torres Del Paine. It’s a two-day trip to Puerto Toro, where we take a ferry that will take us back to the town through the Ultima Esperanza fjord. You will have the chance to appreciate virgin lands with exuberant vegetation, thousands of birds, and after a little while of paddling the imposing Chacabuco range and “Balmaceda Mountain” will rear up in front of your kayak.
*Important: Price per person based on two pax.

Day 1 / Paddle Serrano River from Pueblo Serrano to Puerto Toro.
We depart at 7:00h from Puerto Natales to Serrano sector, at the Torres del Paine National Park (if you are somewhere inside the park we can see a transportation for you to the sector Pueblito Serrano ).
At the Serrano bank we will initiate the instruction to ensure a safe and comfortable trip. We will load the kayaks with the necessary equipment to start the excursion.
The adventure begins. We will paddle to Salto del Rio (an amazing water fall) where a short walk and portaging (carrying) the kayaks will allow us to avoid the waterfall. The navigation continues along the mighty river on our way to the Serrano Glacier. The viewpoints from Tyndall Glacier and Geike mountains give us the sign that we navigate close to the Southern Ice Field. This is where we have a break to replenish and enjoy our lunch with a spectacular view. We will then slowly work our way closer to Monte Balmaceda until we get together with Ultima Esperanza fjord waters. At these same waters, Juan Ladrilleros was intensely searching for some exit to the Atlantic sea (circa 1558). From this point, we have a privileged view from the Serrano Glacier.
We will camp at Puerto Toro for the night, where we will enjoy a delicious dinner with Patagonian wild nature as landscape.
Day 2 / Serrano Glacier, ferry to Puerto Natales.
Early in the morning right after our breakfast we will portage (carry) our kayaks about 30m to Serrano Lagoon (where the Glacier ends). We will paddle alongside with the blue icebergs that break off the huge glacier and we will be back at midday to take a bigger boat that will take us back to Puerto Natales through Ultima Esperanza fjord that in it´s journey has an amazing view to Balmaceda Glacier. We will stop at Estancia Perales to have a delicious and traditional roasted lamb. At 18.00hrs we will arrive back to Puerto Natales.
Important: please bear in mind that from the beginning to the end of the kayak trip the itinerary may have to be modified owing, of course, to the famous Patagonian wind. Sometime the lagoon can be blocked with too many pieces of ice, if this is the case, It won’t be possible to pladdle in the lake.
